The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released the official notification for the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) February 2026 on its official portal. The CTET 2026 exam will be held on 08 February 2026 in 132 cities across India and in 20 languages.
Candidates who wish to become teachers for Classes I to VIII in government or private schools must qualify CTET. Eligible candidates can apply online.

Eligibility Criteria for CTET 2026
The minimum educational qualifications for CTET are as per NCTE guidelines. Candidates must refer to NCTE’s official website for full eligibility details.
1. Eligibility for Classes I–V (Primary Level)
Any one of the following:
- Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with 50% marks and passed/appearing in the final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education
OR - Senior Secondary with 45% marks and passed/appearing in 2-year D.El.Ed as per NCTE 2002 norms
OR - Senior Secondary with 50% marks and passed/appearing in 4-year B.El.Ed
OR - Senior Secondary with 50% marks and passed/appearing in 2-year Diploma in Special Education
OR - Graduation with 50% marks and B.Ed.
- Such candidates must complete a 6-month Bridge Course in Elementary Education after appointment.
2. Eligibility for Classes VI–VIII (Upper Primary Level)
Any one of the following:
- Graduation and passed/appearing in 2-year D.El.Ed
OR - Graduation with 50% marks and passed/appearing in 1-year B.Ed
OR - Graduation with 45% marks and passed/appearing in B.Ed as per NCTE norms
OR - Senior Secondary with 50% marks and passed/appearing in 4-year B.El.Ed
OR - Senior Secondary with 50% marks and passed/appearing in 4-year B.A/B.Sc.Ed or B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed
OR - Graduation with 50% marks and passed/appearing in 1-year B.Ed (Special Education)
OR - Any candidate pursuing/qualified B.Ed recognized by NCTE/RCI is eligible to appear in CTET.

Candidates can apply online through the official CTET portal. Follow these steps:
- Visit the official website of CTET: https://ctet.nic.in/
- Click on Apply for CTET FEB 2026.
- A new registration page will open.
- Enter your personal and educational details.
- Upload required documents:
- Passport-size photograph
- Signature
- Certificates (if applicable)
- Pay the application fee as per category.
- Submit the form and download the confirmation page.
- Take a printout for future use.
